Time goes on

It has proven to be these ancient old vines that have forged one of the longest running hand shake based grape supply agreement in the Clare Valley.

In the 1980's when there was deemed to be an oversupply of wine grapes and growers were screaming for contracts Noel went against the tide.

As the bulldozers roared around the valley, Noel struck up an accord with Robert Crabtree of Crabtree Wines and this agreement is still honoured.

As the generations have changed and the ownership of Roberts winery has changed the agreement is respected. We take a small portion of the fruit for our own use and the rest goes to Crabtree wines where they use it in a table wine called Zibbibo.

Alexandria, 1860's Muscat

This is a wine of unique qualities and magical offerings made from one of the oldest vineyards in Australia. One of the great joys of growing up in the vineyards is the annual Muscat harvest, it happens right at the end of vintage and it takes us back to the roots of winemaking.

The sweet smell of ripe fruit, the buzzing of the bees, who have no interest in the pickers, and the bright clear sunshine make for one of those special moments. This is a time when we put all the worry behind us and spend time together as a family.

To give you the opportunity to share in this experience we have blended over 20 vintages and we have an annual release in September of a wine we call Alexandria made from these Muscat vines that were planted in the 1860's. If you wish to be a part of this please send us an email or call the winery and become a Muscateer. But don't delay there are only a limited number of bottles of Muscat and there is a limit of 3 bottles per Muscateer.
