Our

Botrytis
Riesling
The name "The
Aristocrat" is a play with words referring to the botrytis mould
in the vineyard. There are two types of mould one is good the other
bad, the good mould is grey in colour and often referred to as the
Noble Rot. For this reason we chose to identify the wine with nobility
or more specifically the Aristocracy.
In the Clare Valley
it is a rare opportunity to achieve the ideal conditions to create
a botrytised wine; in 2006 such an opportunity arose. We produced
500 bottles of this wine which is exclusively available at the wineries
cellar door.
The wine is low
in alcohol; it is sweet but not confectionary sweet and with a little
bit of funk. Made to a very simple style which would go great as an
after dinner drink with cheese and dried fruits.
