Reuse & Recycle

In the construction of the winery it was always our plan to incorporate existing infrastructure and reuse equipment we had from a previous venture.

We kept 30% of an existing shed with insulation and converted it into a lab.

The retaining walls have been made from 2 tonne concrete blocks which where a waste product from other building sites.

Catwalks and tanks were retro fitted to suit the new location and guard rails were re built to fit the site.

Everything had to work so the design was developed accordingly and with minutes to spare we got it done.

Winery...
After a successful partnership venture Cardinham Estate evolved and developed a brand in need of a winery. In 2005 the boys undertook the construction of a 500 tonne winery, an enormous task, with a very short timeline and one that Scott and Shane were able to demonstrate an ability to deal with the challenges head on.

The winery was completed just in time for the 2006 vintage with finishing touches being put to the cooling system and crushers as fruit was coming up the driveway.

As far as we are concerned the winery will never be complete, there is always something that we will need to change or develop.

The winery is positioned with the vineyards surrounding and the tasting room next door, during the vintage it is a hub of activity and everyone needs to keep a look out for each other. The end result of this chaos is in the bottle and a credit to the management skills and passion of the family.
